Striped Bass
Fall striper run. Target the Cape Cod Canal (the world’s most famous striper land-fishing spot), the Brewster flats, Race Point, Monomoy Island rips, Nauset Beach, and Sandy Neck. Bunker chunks, live eels, paddle tails, and topwater during blitzes. Schools of breaking fish under bird activity.
False Albacore
False albacore (little tunny, albies) at the southside of the Cape (Falmouth, Woods Hole, Vineyard Sound) and the offshore reefs from late August through October. Tautog
Tautog (blackfish) on the Cape Cod Canal, the bridge piers, the rocky shorelines of the Outer Cape, and offshore wrecks. Green crab is the gold standard bait; whole or half on a 4/0 octopus hook with minimal weight. Bites are subtle, sets must be sharp. Cold-water specialist — best Nov-May.
