Palm Beach fishing report for the week of October 1, 2026. The mullet run is in full swing along the Palm Beach County beaches, and it is bringing the big predators in close. From Jupiter Inlet down to Boynton, the beach and the inlets are where you want to be this week, with the reef a strong second option when the wind allows.
What’s Hitting
This week on the water, tarpon are the headline. They are crashing mullet schools along the beaches, often within casting distance of the sand. Snook are stacked at Jupiter Inlet and the Lake Worth Inlet, and they are feeding on the outgoing tide and at night. Jacks and bluefish are blitzing the bait. On the reef, kingfish are steady in 90 to 150 feet, and there are a few sailfish starting to show. Inside, the docks and bridges along Lake Worth Lagoon hold snook, tarpon, and mangrove snapper.
Where to Find Them
For tarpon, run the beach early and look for showers of mullet and rolling fish, then set up ahead of the school. Juno Beach, Jupiter Beach, and the beaches south of the Lake Worth Inlet have all been productive. For snook, Jupiter Inlet and the Lake Worth Inlet (Palm Beach Inlet) on the falling tide. For kingfish, slow-troll the reef edge off the Breakers and Jupiter. Lake Worth Lagoon’s bridges, including the Blue Heron and Flagler bridges, produce at night.
Tides & Conditions
Tides are moderating with the last quarter moon this weekend. Water temperatures are in the low 80s. The Gulf Stream runs very close to shore off Palm Beach, which can make for fast current on the reef and rough water when a north wind opposes it. Check the forecast before heading out, and stay alert to the tropics this time of year.
Tackle & Tactics
For tarpon on the beach, a live mullet on a 7/0 circle hook with 60- to 80-pound fluorocarbon, or a large swimbait. For snook at the inlets, a live mullet or a bucktail on 40- to 50-pound leader. For kingfish, slow-troll live baits on a wire stinger rig. Heavy spinning gear, 7 to 8 feet with 30- to 50-pound braid, handles most of what you will encounter along the beach.
Local Intel This Week
Public launches include the Burt Reynolds Park ramp in Jupiter, the Phil Foster Park ramp on Singer Island, and the Bert Winters Park ramp in Juno Beach. Shore anglers have good access at the Juno Beach Pier, the Lake Worth Beach Pier, and the Jupiter Inlet jetty at Dubois Park. Fish are concentrated at the inlets on the falling tide and along the beach wherever the mullet are. Check current FWC regulations and seasons before keeping fish, including snook slot limits.
This Week’s Tip
Tarpon on the beach often roll on the outside edge of the mullet school. Rather than casting into the school, throw past it and let your bait swim out of the bait pod. A single mullet separated from the pack is exactly what the tarpon are looking for.
