Texas Gulf Coast fishing report for the week of October 15, 2026. Fall fronts are cooling the bays and the bull red run is in full swing at the jetties.

What’s Hitting

Bull reds are at the jetties and passes, speckled trout are on the shorelines and the grass flats, and the flounder run is beginning to ramp up. Black drum are around the reefs and sheepshead are on the pilings.

Looking ahead, the bull red run should continue for several more weeks, and the flounder run will build as water cools. Each strong front can trigger a new push of fish.

Where to Find Them

Fish the jetties at Port Aransas and Port O’Connor on the outgoing tide for bull reds. Work the shorelines of Aransas Bay and Matagorda Bay for trout, and the channel edges for flounder.

Tides & Conditions

With the moon building toward first quarter, tides are easing. Moving water at the jetties is best. A passing front can change conditions fast, so check a current tide chart and wind forecast.

Tackle & Tactics

Cut mullet and live finger mullet are top choices for bull reds, live shrimp under a cork for trout, and a mud minnow on a Carolina rig for flounder. Heavier spinning or conventional gear fits the jetties.

Fish the jetties with a heavy weight to hold bottom in the current, and keep a landing net or gaff handy. In the bays, a popping cork with live shrimp is a reliable choice, and wading the shorelines can produce trout at first light.

Local Intel This Week

Public access includes Roberts Point Park at Port Aransas, Rockport Beach Park and Cole Park in Corpus Christi. Fish are concentrating at the jetties and shorelines. Check current Texas regulations and seasons before keeping any fish.

This Week’s Tip

Wait for the front. The day after a cold front passes, the bite often turns on.
